Even in black and white times it is hard to resist a splash of colour when you find one.
It's happened again. Out in the countryside, taking in the beautiful wild flowers in Sussex at the weekend, I heard those words.
I like those the best. Where we just do something on the spur of the moment and live with the consequences, whatever they may be.
Inspiration often appears, or so they say, quite unexpectedly. A look, a word or simply a thought and there it is. From nothing to something. Direction and purpose.
We have such a beautiful home, this planet of ours, why can’t we share it and love our neighbours?
These are the times when I feel I should not be around people. No matter how good or inspirational or kind they may be. And these are also the times when my self-esteem sees only what it chooses to see and finds nothing but its own version of the truth.
A flavour of spring in a winter landscape is sometimes all it takes to fill a heart and to raise a face towards the glorious sunshine.
We have had no rain here for seven or eight weeks. Probably longer. It's almost impossible to remember the last time it rained.
The posts on the blog will tell you that there were good times. But I also tried to share some of the challenging moments and use the writing process to try to help me understand what was happening and why.
There will always be challenges for us to face as human beings and we frequently struggle to engage with each other in positive or respectful ways.
So our weather does once again what our weather is good at doing. It plays with our emotions, it drags us down and then builds us up, gives us hope only to laugh in our faces as it changes its mind and decides “as we were”.
