Because It Will End, It Will
We are all guilty of taking life for granted.
Every single one of us.
And yesterday I was reminded of that fact.
First, I heard that a neighbour had been diagnosed with cancer. A serious, scary, life-threatening kind of cancer. And then last night, I spoke with a friend. He had just been told that someone he was close to had died by suicide earlier in the week. A planned, premeditated act, which somehow made it much harder for him to understand.
Sadly, these things are a part of life and happen all too often. We just chose to hide that fact from ourselves.
And if nothing else does, then situations like these, when death touches you or those close to you, must surely make people realise that life is just temporary. A joyous, crazy, wonderful short-term gift that we would be foolish not to enjoy as much as we can and for as long as we can.
Because it will end, it will. We just never know when.
And today I will be creating memories and collecting images and savouring every single one of them. Like every other day I hope, but perhaps with a little renewed vigour.
Because not to is just wrong.
