A Monday Afternoon Conversation
“Quirky,” she said, “that’s what I always wanted to be.”
And we carried on walking, watching the people that we passed on the seafront, as we often do.
“It’s funny you should say that,” I replied, thoughtfully, “have I ever told you how appealing I find people who are comfortable with their differences?”
And she looked at me then, holding my gaze a little longer than usual.
“I didn’t say that I was quirky, just that I wanted to be.”
“I think I am very normal.”
And we walked in silence for a while, feeling the late afternoon sunshine warm our wind-blown faces.
