When Christmas Is A Sad Place To Be
Christmas can be challenging.
Most of us would like to think that we can identify with the traditions, the ideals, of the holiday season. To think of others before ourselves, to be kind, understanding and generous.
Yet sometimes, when you try to do the right thing, to think of others and to try and live those ideals, you can still end up getting it wrong in the eyes of some. And yes, I agree that you can't keep everyone happy all of the time, but this is the time of year to try anyway.
So as I sit here on Christmas Eve, feeling as contemplative as ever, I am left in little doubt that people close to me are unhappy. Unhappy and fearing for their futures.
And when surrounded by illness, depression and the the scary reality of death, which seems to be the case this year, well, that's a sad place to be at any time of the year.
But especially at Christmas.
